The egg-shaped, primrose-yellow buds of Tulipa Golden Apeldoorn open to reveal a rich, golden yellow interior and black heart, punctuated by a bright yellow, 3-lobed stigma. They flower on tall, sturdy stems to a height of 55 cms, above beautiful grey-green foliage. Full sun will certainly enhance the pure yellow colour of Tulip ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ but a little shade will extend its blooming period through the month of April. These tulips look wonderful planted in large drifts in a well-drained border or naturalised in free-draining soil where the bulbs won’t become susceptible to rotting. Tulipa ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ make long lasting cut flowers.
