A very long-flowering tulip, Tulipa Weber’s Parrot is one of the first parrot tulips to open and goes on for weeks. It’s a fairly tall, deciduous, bulbous perennial (usually planted as an annual) with an upright habit. The bright green leaves are quite broad, disappearing in summer as the bulb goes dormant, but it’s recommended to plant a late perennial in front to conceal the dying leaves. From April and into May, the creamy-white cupped flowers with bright pink streaks and edges and green flares have very twisted and feathered petals. It looks good with simple, egg-shaped tulips of complementary colour, and makes a good cut flower. Plant tulip Weber’s Parrot in November, to avoid the fungal disease tulip fire.
