Thymus praecox Red Carpet

Creeping Thyme 'Red Carpet'

Thymus praecox 'Red Carpet' is a vibrant, low-growing variety of Creeping Thyme. It forms a dense, evergreen mat of tiny, aromatic dark green foliage that becomes completely smothered in a profusion of tiny, deep magenta-red flowers during early Summer. This cultivar is particularly prized for its intense color and its ability to create a "living carpet" effect, making it an excellent choice for filling gaps between paving stones or cascading over garden edges. Like its relatives, the leaves are fragrant and can be used sparingly in cooking. It is highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. Perfect for rockeries and in gravel and Mediterranean gardens.
