Scabious Butterfly Blue
A small, very floriferous, double scabious, Scabiosa Butterfly Blue is a compact, herbaceous perennial with a clump-forming habit. As its name suggests, Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue' is highly attractive to butterflies and bees. The rich green, ferny foliage forms a rounded clump. Very pretty, double, pale mauvish-blue, ‘pincushion’ flowers are borne from June until late autumn, making this one of the longest-flowering perennials there is. Deadhead to prolong flowering, and protect from winter wet. Scabious Butterfly Blue is sterile, so will not seed about; it is drought-tolerant once established. It can also be grown in containers.
