RHS Empathy Afterplant - Rose

Product description

RHS Empathy After Plant - Rose

AFTER PLANT ROSE FOOD is specifically formulated for roses, containing essential nutrients, biologically active mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria that help to build soil fertility to support healthy growth and improve flowering

The nutrients in Empathy AFTER PLANT ROSE FOOD have been scientifically selected and balanced to support the natural symbiosis between the treated plant rootgrow™ mycorrhizal fungi and essential soil bacteria.

The product is in dry granule formulation and ideal as an early season treatment at the first signs of growth in spring. Apply a second feed in summer after the first flush of flowers and throughout the growing season.

Kick-start soil fertility during establishment of your roses and increase nutrient uptake throughout their life to promote vibrant, healthy blooms.

Empathy After Plant Rose is an organic plant food enriched with Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria. It provides all the nutrients hungry plants need, and boosts soil biology to create better growing conditions in the long term.

Specially formulated for roses, the food contains nitrogen fixing bacteria that increase nitrogen flow into the plant and synthesise hormones to stimulate healthy growth.

The addition of Rootgrow helps extend the rose’s root system, promoting better uptake of nutrients and water for the length of the rose's life. Sprinkle liberally for prize-winning roses.

How does Rootgrow work?

Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungi bond to a plant’s roots, effectively becoming part of its root system. They grow rapidly in search of water and nutrients, and as they're finer than the plant's coarse roots, they're better at reaching them - helping plants thrive in even difficult soils.

In poor sandy soil, they track down scarce nutrients and water, and in dense clay soil they unlock nutrients, acting like a clay breaker. They're great at hunting down phosphorus and potassium for flowering and fruiting, but also thrive on finding trace elements. And they hold onto water like a sponge, giving your plants far better drought tolerance.

Use 1-2 handfuls (25-50g) per rose bush apply evenly around the base, working gently into the topsoil and water well.

Apply in spring at the first sign of new growth. Apply a second feed in summer after the first flush of flowers. For the best results Empathy AFTER PLANT ROSE FOOD should be used within one year from opening.

Empathy AFTER PLANT ROSE FOOD is NOT a substitute for using rootgrow™ at time of planting. For new plantings, or in poor soil conditions, we recommend using pure rootgrow™ mycorrhizal fungi applied close to the plant’s roots.

Each 1kg pack will treat up to 40 roses with one application.

Our current shipping times

10-14 business days (average)

Santa isn't the only one whose busiest time of year is here! We fulfill tens of thousands of orders every bareroot season so please be patient with us while we work through all of your orders. You will be emailed or called as soon as your order is collected by the courier from our nursery.

For the best chance of delivery before the holidays

Place your order before Sunday, December 5th for the best chance of delivery before the holidays. We work extraordinarily hard to ship orders in a timely manner, courier delays are very common at this time of year, so if you need your order before the holidays, please place it early!

Plants delivered to your door

We ship to Ireland and Northern Ireland only. Packing and delivery for most orders will be €15 per order. However, larger plants and quantities will incur higher delivery charges (as much as €65 for pallet delivery). Delivery charges are calculated and added to your order at the checkout stage.

Plants marked as 'collection/oversize delivery'

All plants that incur higher delivery charges are marked as 'Collection/oversize delivery'. To avoid higher delivery charges simply collect your order yourself from our nursery for free (use code collect at checkout) or select smaller variants while shopping on our store.

The best part about plants is that they grow! We find it far more exciting to order smaller plants, pay less for shipping (and help the planet at the same time), and then watch them grow big in their permanent home.

Delivery

We are currently using An Post, DPD, and Prompto as our delivery providers. Once your order has shipped it may arrive the next day or it can take 2 or 3 days for the parcels to arrive (even longer during the holidays), we take special care to pack our plants in such a way that they will still arrive in perfect condition after several days in transit.
Delivery charges are calculated & added to your order at the checkout stage.

Potted plants

9cm pots

A 9cm pot is about the size of a takeaway coffee mug, it is an ideal size for planting Herbs, Alpines & Heathers. We supply some young Trees, Conifers & Shrubs in 9cm pots for cost effective planting, they will just require a little extra care in the first year or two, mainly making sure they don’t get swamped by weeds.

1.3L pots

A good size for Hedging as the plants are not too small but are still good value, we supply some unusual shrubs in this size too.

2L pots

Some young ornamental trees and most common shrubs are available in this cost effective size.

3L pots

A lot of our more unusual Shrubs and some trees are available in this size.

4L, 5L and 7.5L pots

Many trees and more unusual Shrubs are available in these larger sizes, good for a more instant effect.

10L Pots

This size is mainly for ornamental Trees.

Bareroot plants

1-2ft Bareroot

Plants will be easier to plant than larger plants but they will need to be kept totally clear of weeds for them to do well and they will take several years to offer much impact.

2-3ft Bareroot

Plants are a good economical choice, they are nearly big enough to not get swamped by weeds.

3-4ft Bareroot

This size is a good option for tree whips and Hedging as they will be well above any competition from weeds yet the roots won’t be too large for planting and they are not too tall to be knocked around by the elements too much.

4-5ft Bareroot

This size is the best choice for hedging when an instant effect is desired or to get tree whips off to a head start, they will need a larger hole for planting and they will need to be checked that they are not getting loose in the ground from time to time after planting. This size is more likely to get battered by the weather, so in very exposed areas it may be best to plant in March after the worst of the winter has passed. This tree grade may require staking.

For more information about choosing bareroot or potted plants see our guide to bareroot vs. potted.

Our promise to you

Range

We source our plants from the very best growers in Ireland and beyond. Each plant is chosen for its useful, fruitful, and beautiful attributes and its value to the Irish garden and landscape. We stock an outstanding range from native to unusual to rare.

Environment

We manage our nursery on organic principles. All of our potting, planting, lifting, and weeding is done by hand and we use peat-free, organic compost. We strive to have the least impact on the planet as possible and are always looking for ways we can improve.

Quality

Plant quality is especially important to us. When we gather your order we pick the best possible size and shape for the grade, and we always check for healthy roots, grafts, leaves, and other indicators of overall plant health.

We also regularly inspect our nursery for any signs of pests or disease, track every single batch of plants from source to soil, and destroy any plants that appear to be infected with anything that could cause harm to the environment.

Service

We have a skilled team who go to great lengths to make our plants arrive to you in the best possible condition. Our priority is to supply an inspiring range of top quality plants with excellent customer service whether you are using our website or visiting us in person.
