Weeping Willow-leaved Pear

An elegant, small, deciduous tree, Pyrus salicifolia Pendula has a weeping habit. The long leaves are grey-green. Creamy-white flowers appear in spring, followed by small brown fruit (not edible) in autumn. This tree is good in an architectural setting, but also in a cottage or wildlife garden, where the birds will eat the fruit. Weeping willow-leaved pear is an easy, low-maintenance tree, and minimal pruning is needed. Weeping willow-leaved pear holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
