Pittosporum tenuifolium Golf Ball

Pittosporum Golf Ball

An excellent new cultivar of this New Zealand species, Pittosporum tenuifolium Golf Ball is a medium-sized, fast-growing, evergreen shrub with a bushy habit and rounded shape – hence the name! It does not become leggy or bare at the bottom, and can be used as hedging or topiary, for which it’s a good substitute for box. The rounded, mint-green leaves have a pale mid-rib and are fresh-looking throughout the year. In May and June, small, insignificant, purplish-brown, night-scented flowers appear, deliciously scented of honey. Also known as kohuhu, Pittosporum Golf Ball is a really good, easy plant, requiring minimal pruning, but may suffer in the coldest areas. Tolerates sea air.
