Very bright colors in spring, more upright habit than most other cultivars.
A vigorous Photinia, several times a year young shoots of a darker red than 'Red Robin', with corrugated leaves becoming dark green, well adapted for hedgerows or to form stems because of its acrotone growth
Everyone likes a bit of colour and Photinia Red Robin does not disappoint: a large, dense, evergreen shrub with glossy green and purple-red foliage. Makes an excellent specimen on its own but is most often planted as a hedge. The fresh growth can be anywhere between dark to bright red and can be a welcome sight in Winter and early Spring. Red Robin is evergreen and can be clipped into a neat hedge as low as 4 ft or left to grow tall. It is fast growing but for best results, it should be clipped back every year to produce a nice bushy habit. It will grow in all free draining soils, avoid extreme wind and coastal exposure. Holds the RHS award for garden merit.
