Omphalodes cappadocica Cherry Ingram

Omphalodes Cherry Ingram

Named after Collingwood ‘Cherry’ Ingram, who reintroduced many lost cherry varieties back to Japan, including the magnificent Prunus Tai-haku. Omphalodes cappadocica Cherry Ingram is a low-growing, shade-loving perennial prized for its vivid, forget-me-not-blue flowers and attractive, evergreen foliage. In spring, clusters of intense blue, star-like blooms appear above a carpet of glossy, heart-shaped green leaves, creating a stunning ground cover effect.

This variety is ideal for brightening up shaded borders, woodland gardens, or planting beneath shrubs and trees and is a perfect companion plant for spring flowering bulbs and perennials. It spreads gently to form a dense mat, suppressing weeds and adding long-lasting interest even after flowering. Easy to grow and low maintenance, it thrives in moist, humus-rich soil and brings early colour to the garden year after year.
