A dwarf lavender suitable for rock gardens, gravel gardens or edging a border or path, Lavandula angustifolia Ellagance Purple is a compact, clump-forming, evergreen shrub, with an upright, bushy habit. The long, narrow, evergreen leaves are grey-green, and deliciously aromatic. In July and August, masses of deep purple, richly scented flower-spikes rise above the leaves; they are very attractive to pollinators and good for drying, or scenting puddings, cakes and biscuits. Drought-tolerant once established, Lavender Ellagance Purple also does very well in pots. Clip over after flowering, and again in spring to keep it tidy.
