Winter Jasmine

Slender, green square stems and bright yellow, star-shaped flowers bring invaluable cheer to the darkest months of the year with Jasminum nudiflorum, commonly known as Winter Jasmine. Emerging continuously from late Autumn through to early Spring, the brilliant single blooms open on bare foliage-free branches, creating a striking contrast against dark green stems when little else is in flower. While non-scented, its reliable winter display provides a welcome nectar source for early-waking pollinators on mild days. Naturally an arching, scrambling deciduous shrub, it can be grown as ground cover on banks or trained against walls, fences, and trellises using ties. Exceptionally tough and low maintenance, simply cut back the stems after flowering to promote vigorous growth for the next season.
