Hosta Purple Heart

Hosta Purple Heart

A lovely plant for a shady spot in the garden, Hosta Purple Heart is a medium-sized, clump-forming herbaceous perennial. The substantial, glossy leaves are lime-green to green turning yellow in autumn, with a touch of maroon-purple at the base, on maroon-purple stems. In June and July and into August this plant bears attractive spires of lavender to mauve flowers on maroon-purple stems. Hosta Purple Heart will tolerate full sun if the soil is reliably moist, and the flowers will be deeper in colour, but it is better in dappled shade. Mulch in spring to conserve moisture.
