Plantain Lily Halcyon
A beautiful, reliable plantain lily with glaucous (blue-grey) foliage, Hosta (Tardiana Group) Halcyon is a compact, herbaceous perennial, with a clump-forming habit. The ovate, thick, heavily wrinkled leaves are blue-grey. Spires of pale, greyish lavender, bell-shaped flowers are borne on 40cm stems in summer. The thick, blue-grey leaves are less prone to slug attack than other hostas, but do keep an eye out for the little blighters. May need dividing periodically – use a saw. Mulch in spring. Plantain lily Halcyon holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
