Euonymus phellomanus

Corky or Winged Spindle

A relatively large deciduous shrub, that's easy to grow - and really showy in autumn. Commonly known as the winged spindle tree because of its unusual stems, which have corky growths that look a little like small wings, its leaves turn dazzling shades of yellow and red in autumn. The vibrant and long-lasting, lipstick pink fruits appear in late summer or autumn, and split to reveal bright orange seeds which are attractive to birds and are also really decorative and unusual. If given room to develop, Euonymus phellomanus will make a stunning garden specimen that is sure to bring a lot of joy!
