Crocus chrysanthus Dorothy

 Crocus Dorothy

A charming cultivar of a species plant, Crocus chrysanthus Dorothy is a cormous, deciduous perennial that comes up year after year. The narrow leaves are typical of bulbs, and mid-green, with a thin white central stripe. The flowers are fragrant, goblet-like, and brilliant yellow, with bronze markings on the outside of the petals. They appear in late winter or early spring.  Plant to twice the depth of the bulb. Easy to grow, and no pruning needed. Ideal for naturalising in grass or gravel gardens, in full sun. Good in city and courtyard gardens, or cottage gardens, or containers, with summer-flowering plants to take over. Must be in full sun.
