This early cranberry is a small, low-growing, evergreen shrub with small pink flowers followed by large, deep red, nutritious berries. Cranberry Early Black produces berries that are juicy and fairly sweet. Foliage often turns bronze or red in cold weather. The plants will scramble, rooting from the stems. Excellent frost and disease resistance. Cranberries must have very acid soil, but can also be grown in ericaceous soil-based compost in containers or raised beds, and watered with rainwater.
