Corydalis curviflora subsp. rosthornii Blue Heron

Fumewort Blue Heron

A delightful little plant with stunning blue flowers, Corydalis curviflora subsp. rosthornii Blue Heron is a compact, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with a lax habit, which often goes summer-dormant. The lacy foliage is grey-blue-green, often purple-flushed, and forming a low clump. In late spring and early summer, upright, bright red stems rise above the clump, bearing scented, tubular, electric-blue flowers. As this plant tends to summer dormancy, keep it well watered and mulched, or give in to this tiresome habit and grow a late perennial to cover the gap. Fumewort Blue Heron is good for pollinators.
