Cercis canadensis Texas White

Redbud Texas White

An unusual cultivar of the Judas tree or redbud with white flowers, Cercis canadensis var texensis Texas White is a hardy, tall, deciduous shrub or occasionally small tree with an upright, spreading, rather flat-topped habit. The beautiful, heart-shaped leaves emerge lime-green, turning greener in summer and yellow in autumn. In early spring, large clusters of creamy-white flowers are borne on the bare branches of mature plants, and are attractive to early pollinators. Allow the shrub to grow with multiple stems for the best shape, and water well while the plant is establishing. Tolerates dry spells once established. Prune if necessary after flowering.
