One of the late-flowering, cold-resistant Ben series developed in Scotland, Blackcurrant Ben Tirran is a very late cropping variety, extending the blackcurrant season. It also flowers late, making it a good choice for colder areas. The berries are small to medium sized with a rich, full flavour, and cook down well; berries ripen simultaneously. The bush is vigorous, yet compact, upright in habit. High-yielding, reliable cropper. Good disease resistance, especially to mildew. Plant lower than the nursery soil-mark to encourage new growth from below soil level.
