Astilbe Ellie
Widely regarded as one of the finest white varieties, 'Ellie' is a spectacular Japanese Astilbe prized for its exceptionally large, luminous flower plumes. In early to mid-Summer, it produces dense, pyramidal spires of pure white florets that emerge from pale green buds. As the flowers mature, they transition to a soft, elegant cream, standing in striking contrast against its deeply-divided, dark green foliage. Commonly known as False Spirea, 'Ellie' is a moisture-loving perennial that brings a bright, airy feel to shaded corners of the garden. Unlike many other white Astilbes, its dried flower heads remain attractive well into Autumn, turning a warm cinnamon-brown and providing winter structure. It is a robust, clump-forming plant that is virtually pest-free and highly attractive to pollinators. Perfect for damp borders, woodland edges, or the margins of a garden pond, it provides a sophisticated, vertical accent where few other plants can match its floral impact.
