Bridging the gap between spring bulbs and summer perennials, Anemone coronaria St Brigid Mixed bears saucer-shaped, fully double flowers in white with green centres, and deep reds, violet-blues and pinks with black centres in May and June. Bright green, ferny foliage forms a low mound, over which the gorgeous flowers are carried on stout stems. They are lovely at the front of a border, and can also be grown in pots; they also make good cut flowers. St Brigid anemones will need frost protection in colder areas, and must have very well-drained soil. The plant goes dormant after flowering, and should then be kept dry. Soak the corms in tepid water for several hours or overnight before planting.
