FUN WITH FLAX @ FUTURE FORESTS - a workshop with Artist basketmaker Lynn Kirkham
Phormium or New Zealand Flax is a hardy plant that thrives here in Ireland.
It's long flat leaves and threads can be woven to make strong ropes, baskets and many other fun and useful items.
Many people have access to this wonderful plant that can provide an abundance of creative material.
Lynn will teach you how to harvest and prepare flax for weaving and plaiting using household tools
and how to make a small basket or other project to bring home.
Please bring scissors, some clothes pegs and Lunch for yourself.
Also some large mussel shells and other decorative seashells if you are on the shore.
