Paniculata hydrangeas are big, hardy, unfussy shrubs with conical flower-heads, ideal for a shrub border in a larger garden. Hydrangea paniculata Candlelight® is more compact, a sturdy, medium-sized deciduous shrub with an upright habit. The oval leaves are dark green, strongly veined and pointed at the tip, and turn a good colour in autumn. The conical flower heads are borne strongly upright on deep red stems, giving the impression of a candelabra; they are creamy white and gradually turn pale pink from the bottom up as the flowers age in September. Hydrangea Candlelight flowers from July to September, and is compact enough to be grown in a container.
