Lesser Periwinkle

A fast-growing evergreen groundcover plant. The trailing stems of Vinca major initially grow upright, prior to spreading out over ground. Glossy green oval leaves followed by bright blue-purple flowers which appear along the stems from April through to August. The Lesser Periwinkle is one of the best groundcover plants, growing well on difficult banks, shady corners, and under trees. A lovely sight in any garden.

Soil: Well drained soils, tolerates dry soils
Position: Sun, partial shade, full shade but with fewer flowers
Season of Interest: Blue flowers in late Spring to early Autumn, evergreen foliage
