Fruit - Asparagus & Rhubarb

Fruit - Asparagus & Rhubarb

Asparagus and rhubarb are both perennial vegetables that will produce for many years in the same spot when given the right soil and conditions. For example, rhubarb likes lots of manure, and asparagus requires good drainage. They each require special care so make sure to read up on how to grow them (or even how to grow them together).

Bareroot asparagus and rhubarb | January to March

Nearly all of our asparagus and rhubarb are sold in bareroot crowns from January to March. We find this is the best way to plant them as you effectively stick them in the ground and wait for them to shoot up in spring (it's a bit more work than that, but barely)! You can learn more about growing asparagus and rhubarb from the RHS.

Potted asparagus and rhubarb | all year round

Potted asparagus and rhubarb are available throughout the rest of the year, but the best selection, and the best time to plant, is in spring (April to June). Outside of these times our selection is more limited.
