Sorbus x intermedia - Swedish Whitebeam

Swedish Whitebeam

A naturally occurring hybrid whitebeam from Scandinavia, Sorbus x intermedia is a medium-sized, spreading, deciduous tree with a broad, rounded crown and compact habit. A tough tree, it copes with coastal exposure and city pollution and is often used as a street tree. Flat white flowers in late spring are followed in autumn by clusters of orange-red berries. The leaves are dark green with white, hairy undersides, oval and deeply lobed, turning yellow in autumn. The Swedish Whitebeam is attractive to wildlife and good for colder areas.
