Red Elderberry

A deciduous suckering shrub, related to our native Elder, but with striking bright red berries which are sour and usually not consumed raw by humans, but may be cooked for use in the preparation of wine, jelly and pies and are a great food source for a variety of wildlife. Fruits are attractive to wildlife. Edible white flowers in Spring.
