Salix caprea Kilmarnock (pendula)

Kilmarnock Weeping Willow

One of the most popular willows for smaller gardens, Salix caprea Kilmarnock, also known as S. caprea pendula, has been widely planted for decades. Originally a wild ground covering plant eventually grafted onto a straight stem at varying heights for ornamental purposes, its red/yellow stems will droop down gracefully eventually touching the ground. The early spring catkins have an interesting texture and beautiful appearance and its quirky shape makes an interesting focal point all year round.
