Sage, Green

Salvia officinalis

A well known culinary herb with grey-green, felty, strongly aromatic leaves. Also has medicinal uses and in making soaps and perfumes. Lilac-blue flowers appear in Summer and are very attractive to bees. Best grown in sharply drained, fairly poor soil in full sun and a warm position. Dislikes excessive winter wet. However it survives in less than perfect conditions in many kitchen gardens.
