Plum Stanley
One of the most reliable and heavy-cropping prune plums available, Plum Stanley makes an upright, easily managed tree that fruits dependably year after year. Showy clouds of pure white blossom cover the bare branches in mid-Spring, standing up well to changeable weather and setting a prolific crop without needing a pollination partner. By early September, the branches are laden with medium-to-large, oval, dark purple-blue plums dusted in a delicate silver bloom. Inside, the golden-yellow flesh is firm, sweet, and rich with juice, parting cleanly from the stone. It is delicious eaten fresh straight from the tree, but because the flesh holds its texture and high sugar content when heated, it is equally prized for tarts, bottling, and traditional drying into prunes.
