Ninebark Dart’s Gold
A compact, gold-leaved cultivar of this hardy North American species, Physocarpus opulifolius Dart’s Gold is a medium-sized, slow-growing, deciduous shrub with a suckering habit and arching brown branches. The three-lobed leaves emerge bright yellow, slowly becoming a rich green as they age. In summer, small, scented cream flowers, sometimes with a pink tinge, appear. These are followed by small brown fruits. Good in a mixed shrub planting to contrast with deeper green foliage. Ninebark Dart’s Gold holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
