Pear Louise Bonne de Jersey
A very old pear from Normandy, Pear Louise Bonne de Jersey is nevertheless well adapted to Irish conditions if given a sunny aspect. The fruit is small to medium-sized, conical, and yellowish-green with a deep red flush and no russet; the white flesh is sweet and melting with an excellent flavour. Moderately vigorous, hardy, upright, spreading tree, a reliable cropper with moderate to heavy yields. Partial tip-bearer. Particularly attractive, early but frost-resistant blossom. Good resistance to scab. Will not pollinate Williams’ Bon Chrétien, and vice versa. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
