Parsley, curly

Petroselinum crispum

Curly parsley is probably the most common kitchen herb in Europe due to its variety of uses and ease of cultivation. It's native to the Mediterranean, naturalised in Ireland and the rest of Europe, and used everywhere as a herb, spice and a vegetable. This is a biennial plant that will form rosettes of curly leaves up to 10in long, which are edible. The taproot will function as a foodstore in winter so it can survive a second year. Its uses are endless and there really is no excuse for not adding this little herb to your kitchen garden.
