Also known as Mahonia confusa, Mahonia eurybracteata is an upright, evergreen shrub, usually unbranched and reaching to around 1.5m high and wide. Leaves are toothed and variable in colour and shape but often green with a bluish tinge. Slender racemes of pale yellow, fragrant, autumn and early winter flowers are followed by deep blue fruits.
