Lonicera sempervirens

Lonicera sempervirens - Trumpet Honeysuckle

A medium-sized, twining, evergreen to semi-evergreen climber from the Eastern United States, Lonicera sempervirens is distinguished by flowering for an exceptionally long period. The round to oval leaves are blue-green, the upper leaves perfoliate (having the stem running through them). The 2 ½” (5cm) long, tubular flowers, orange-red with yellow inside, are borne from from April to September; these are followed by red berries in autumn. Really only does well in mild areas, and will benefit even there from the shelter of a warm wall.
