Suitable for mild areas, and best in the shelter of a warm wall, Leptospermum scoparium Coral Candy is a medium-sized to large, evergreen shrub, with a compact, bushy habit and arching branches. The small, linear, aromatic leaves are mid- to deep grey-green, and less than 1”/2.5cm long. From late April to early July, the shrub bears small, double flowers in shades of pink from white to carmine, attractive to bees. New Zealand tea tree Coral Candy can also be grown in pots and brought into a frost-free greenhouse for the winter. Resistant to honey-fungus and drought-tolerant once established. Prune after flowering to keep the shrub compact.
