Juniperus communis Hibernica

Irish Juniper

Called Irish Juniper, this is not the native species, but rather a named cultivar. A columnar tree, ideal for forming a focal point in courtyards, small gardens or formal landscapes, Juniperus communis Hibernica Is a medium-sized, slow-growing, evergreen conifer with a narrowly upright habit. The scale-like, needle-like leaves are grey-green. Needs minimal pruning, if any, and generally a low-maintenance tree. Once mature, it has a flame-like silhouette. Drought-tolerant once established, and useful in hot, sunny sites. Irish juniper holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
