Hydrangea paniculata Kyushu

Paniculate Hydrangea Kyushu

A beautiful shrub for the larger garden, Hydrangea paniculata Kyushu is a large, vigorous, deciduous shrub with an upright habit. The big, slightly glossy, deep green leaves are pointed and oval with a serrated edge. From July to late September, slender conical panicles of creamy-white flowers appear, with a particularly elegant mixture of sterile and starry fertile florets, very attractive to pollinators. Paniculate hydrangea Kyushu can be pruned back quite hard in early spring. This lovely hydrangea was brought from Japan by Collingwood ‘Cherry’ Ingram of flowering cherry fame.
