Hosta Empress Wu

Hosta Empress Wu

Named after the only, and very powerful, female emperor of China, Hosta Empress Wu is one of the biggest hostas of all. It’s a medium-sized, average- to fast-growing, deciduous perennial, with a mound-forming, spreading habit. The enormous, deep green leaves, up to 18”/45cm long, are broad, pointed and deeply veined. Loose panicles of pretty, pale lavender flowers are carried above the foliage in July.  Feed and water Hosta Empress Wu well, and give it protection against slugs.
