Helianthemum Ben Fhada

Sun Rose

A vibrant and exceptionally tough evergreen dwarf shrub, this outstanding selection of Sun/Rock Rose is renowned for bringing a sensational carpet of bright and sunny colour to the garden. Bred in Scotland as part of the famous "Ben" series, 'Ben Fhada' is a robust and energetic performer, forming a neat, dense, spreading mat of small, linear, grey-green foliage that remains attractive throughout every season. From late Spring through to mid-summer, the plant is absolutely smothered in a dense profusion of brilliant, saucer-shaped, paper-thin flowers. The single blooms are a cheerful, bright primrose-yellow, beautifully accented by a contrasting, rich golden-orange eye at the centre of each flower. These nectar-rich blossoms open wide in the morning sun and act as an absolute magnet for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. An ideal match for hot, dry, and challenging garden spots, this resilient Mediterranean-style native is highly drought-tolerant once established and thrives on neglect. Lightly trimming the plant back immediately after its main flowering period maintains a compact, bushy habit and often coaxes a welcome second flush of warm yellow blossoms in late Summer.
