Galtonia candicans

Summer Hyacinth

Stately spikes of fragrant, nodding, bell-shaped white flowers make this elegant bulbous perennial a spectacular choice for bringing dramatic height and late-season interest to sunny borders. Rising above clumps of strap-like, grey-green foliage, the tall flower stems carry up to thirty porcelain-white blooms from late Summer into early Autumn, filling the surrounding garden air with a subtle scent. Commonly known as the Summer hyacinth, it excels in mixed cottage gardens, hot borders, or large patio containers, where its pure white flowers contrast beautifully with vibrant late-blooming perennials.
