Galanthus elwesii Polar Bear

Greater Snowdrop Polar Bear

A distinctive and very late-flowering snowdrop, Galanthus elwesii ‘Polar Bear’ extends the snowdrop season well into Spring. While early varieties such as ‘Snow Fox’ may already be putting on a show in January, ‘Polar Bear’ remains dormant, only emerging when most other snowdrops have finished. From mid-March, it comes into its own with elegant, outward-facing white flowers. The blooms are unusual in form, featuring a delicate green line on the outer petals and bold green markings on the inner segments, giving them a striking and refined appearance. A valuable variety for succession planting, it is ideal for naturalising under deciduous trees, in rock gardens, or at the front of borders.
