Abies fraseri - Fraser Fir

Fraser fir

An attractive medium growing conifer native to the Eastern U.S. mountains. Its short narrow leaves, coupled with beautiful yellow-tipped, purple cones, give this tree an attractive appearance to suit most medium to large gardens. Disease resistance is another good trait of this tree; it can be planted in a mixed forestry situation.

Growing as a Christmas tree:

Also suitable as a particularly neat and narrow living Christmas tree. It's not dissimilar in shape to the Norway spruce, but the Fraser doesn't drop its needles as quickly. It also has a more narrow base - making it ideal for tight spaces. It's now the best selling Christmas tree in the US, and also has a lovely, aromatic fragrance.
