Umbrella Bamboo Formidable

A vigorous and exceptionally sturdy selection of the species, Fargesia robusta Formidable is a tall, non-invasive, clump-forming bamboo known for its dense, strictly upright growth habit. This evergreen variety is prized for its striking color contrast; the deep green culms (stems) are initially wrapped in persistent, papery white sheaths, creating a distinctive "checkerboard" or striped effect. The lush, narrow leaves remain a vibrant green throughout the year. Because of its thick, vertical density, Formidable is an ideal choice for creating narrow, high-impact privacy screens or windbreaks. It is highly resilient, wind-tolerant, and maintains its tidy form without the need for support or containment.
