Euonymus japonicus Green Spire

Japanese Spindle Green Spire

An upright, slender plant. Euonymus japonicus Green Spire is an evergreen shrub with a columnar habit. This plant is fast becoming a good alternative to Box and can be grown as a low hedge and is also good for topiary. The leaves emerge bright green, turning dense, oval, glossy and deep green. The flowers are insignificant; sometimes fruit forms in autumn. Good in architectural or city and courtyard gardens or a low-maintenance garden, and corners of beds and borders as a small punctuation mark. If grown in full sun, reliably moist soil will be needed. Japanese spindle Green Spire can be propagated by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer. An easy shrub that needs minimal pruning (occasionally trim off wayward twigs) and is on the whole, pest and disease free.
