Herringbone Cotoneaster

A spreading, low-growing, deciduous shrub named after its fishbone-shaped branches. The leaves are small and green, in early Summer, masses of small, white flowers are produced, followed by red berries. Both flowers and berries are good for wildlife. The Herringbone Cotoneaster is an excellent shrub, providing very effective groundcover, for mixed shrub beds or difficult embankments. It is most often grown as an attractive wall shrub.

Soil: Well drained normal soils, tolerates dry sites and clay soils
Position: Full sun, tolerates partial shade, ideal for North/East facing walls
Season of Interest: White flowers in late Spring to early Summer, red berries in Autumn into Winter
