Clematis Glasnevin Dusk

This strikingly beautiful clematis is a selection from seed collected by an Irish plant-hunter. Clematis tibetana subsp. vernayi Glasnevin Dusk is a medium-sized, deciduous, late-flowering climber which will need support, and is very good grown through shrubs and small trees, especially those with lime-green leaves or flowers. The typical clematis leaves are a clear, light green. From July, jet-black buds buds open into purplish-brown flowers with four thick petals and golden stamens, forming a delicate, nodding bell-shape which later expands like a star. The flowers are followed by pale silky seed-heads which carry on the display well into autumn. Clematis Glasnevin Dusk is an easy-to-prune clematis, pruned by cutting the whole plant down to fat buds about 18”/45cm above the ground in February.
