Cherry Early Rivers

Cherry Early Rivers

A very early variety of sweet cherry, Cherry Early Rivers was bred in England in the mid-19th century. The fruit is very large, heart-shaped and glossy, with almost black skin and flesh and a small stone; very good, sweet flavour. Vigorous, spreading tree, heavy, regular cropper. Best trained against a warm wall, as the flowers are at risk from early frosts and the fruit from birds. Only prune in summer. Pollination partners: Noir de Gubin, Merton Glory, Lapins, Stella.
