Cephalotaxus harringtonia Fastigiata

Japanese Plum Yew

A good feature plant for smaller gardens, Cephalotaxus harringtonia Fastigiata is a small, rather slow-growing, evergreen tree with a narrow, columnar habit, like a miniature version of the Irish yew, so often seen in churchyards. Deep-green, very narrow, pointed, soft leaves, 2”/5cm long, tightly clothe the upright branches which rise from the base. Female plants bear small, olive-green fruits 1”/2.5cm long, in autumn. Japanese plum yew is an adaptable, reliable, small tree which remains attractive all year, can be used for hedging, and is excellent for landscaping.
