Delicate pale red and yellow lanterns hang in low drifts from May to July, over little mounds of green fern-like foliage. The flowers are extremely attractive to bees and other beneficial pollinators making it perfect for the wildlife garden. Aquilegia canadensis is a lightly fragrant, sun-loving dwarf variety from Canada. A low maintenance perennial with a tolerance for dry soil, it will sit happily in a rock garden or dry bank, although it will grow almost anywhere with some sun. Due to its compact habit, Canadian Columbine looks fabulous in containers. Excellent choice for cut flowers.
